Donald Trump: What to Know about the Former 45th President

Donald Trump’s presidency has been different from the others. The former US President has often made statements not directly related to his official tasks that became subjects of various media discussions. The former POTUS was investigated by federal prosecutors and repeatedly accused of committing possible crimes while serving as president. Trump denied these allegations multiple times and often called the investigators partisan. He threatened to cut federal funding to a university where students organized a counter-protest against white supremacist Richard Spencer’s speech.

Different Presidency

Donald Trump attended a rally in Columbia, South Carolina, on January 17, 2019. As a part of his campaign to be elected in the upcoming American presidential election, Donald Trump revisited the area to campaign for South Carolina Republican Senate candidate Governor Henry McMaster and participated in a fund-raising luncheon. Although Donald Trump was seen as a political outsider during the 2016 presidential election, he was supported by Republicans because he ran against Democratic Party’s Hillary Clinton. The latter had also served as First Lady.

Donald John Trump was born in 1946 to Frederick Christ Trump and Mary Anne MacLeod and is the eldest of five children. His father had brought him to the United States from Scotland when he was just a year old. After finishing his degree, he worked at his father’s company and became a millionaire by age 40. He also participated in the real-estate developments in New York.

Business Traditions

Trump initially refused to follow the family business traditions. His fortune and business empire declined during the 1980s, despite starting his real estate empire from scratch. He used money in ill-gotten ways to earn it. The threat of losing his fortune to his creditors forced him to make risky and emotional decisions.

Donald’s father was a wealthy real estate developer and Democratic politician. In 1964, Trump graduated from the Wharton School of Business. He set up a real estate business, and in 1980, it grew into a $200 million empire. According to Trump, he earned $900,000 for the Miss USA Pageant in 1984. In 1987, he got a loan from his father to establish the Trump Organization. Later on, Trump started buying and developing large real estate properties in New York and other US cities. He claimed he made $200 million after real estate investment and built a skyscraper. He was the 45th US President.

Family Origins

Trump’s family originates from Germany and Scotland. His grandfather, Friedrich Trump, was born on August 27, 1880, and migrated to New York City in 1885. Fred Trump had five children. Trump’s father, Fred Trump, was a German-American businessman and real estate developer. He had built a large empire, both real estate and construction, making him a successful businessman in the U.S. Donald Trump has a younger brother, Robert Trump. Trump has three sons – Donald Trump Jr., Eric Trump, and Barron Trump.
