You can use either Ahrefs or Semrush to undertake competitor analysis in depth and improve your traffic and sales.


The Site Explorer tool on Ahrefs not only enables you to conduct backlink analysis. It also allows for competitor research. You can use this tool to search for your competitor’s organic search results and paid search results.


You can analyze any of your global competitors’ domains using Semrush’s Competitive Research Tool. The information you may get from Competitive Research includes paid search traffic, organic search traffic, display ads, and backlinks. If you need data about any of this information, all you have to do is click on a specific category.

Semrush’s tool also offers you any site’s engagement metrics, including bounce rate, average duration, and average pages per visit- so you can keep track of your competitor’s domain performance.

1. Google Search Console

Setting Up

You can use your Google account to sign in to Google Search Console. Once you have signed in, you may get a welcome message with two options. Pick the first option and submit your subdomain or domain. Then, click continue.

Domain Verification in Search Console

Search Console requires you to verify ownership before it avails any data. If you need to verify domain property, select the dropdown that contains instructions to check if any of the providers listed have your domain registered. If it got registered with a listed provider, click the button with “Start Verification”. Then, follow the instruction included.

If you need to verify a URL prefix property, you can choose Google’s default way or any other option that they support.

Sitemap addition to Search Console

Google uses Sitemap to locate your website’s most important and find out how that content can get crawled. To use Search Console for the submission of a sitemap to Google, navigate to the menu and select “Sitemaps”, take XML sitemap’s URL and paste it in the “Enter Sitemap URL” box, then click “Submit”.
